GTA VI Gameplay Clip and Map Leak Appear Online

A one-minute video and an alleged full map of GTA VI’s Leonida state circulated online; Rockstar and publisher Take-Two removed posts and have not confirmed authenticity.

A roughly one-minute clip and an image purporting to show the full map of Grand Theft Auto VI’s Leonida state appeared online this week. The clip was posted by a dataminer using the name cyberleek and shows a character identified as Jason leaving a house, playing basketball and making a jump.

The recording is low quality. Viewers focused on character animations; some players noted Jason’s landing animation closely matches a landing move from Grand Theft Auto V. Several users observed other movements that appear unfinished or unpolished.

The poster also published an image described as the full map of Leonida. The map shows Vice City and neighbouring counties, labels such as Vice Dale, Mariana, Leonida Straits, Lammox, Kelly and Leonard, and terrain features including swamps, bays and islands. The map layout aligns in part with earlier fan-made mapping projects and resembles the structure of the GTA V world.

Rockstar Games and publisher Take-Two Interactive removed posts and images related to the clip and map from social platforms. Both companies have not publicly confirmed the provenance of the footage or the map.

A poll on a gaming forum reported 84.7% of respondents believed the footage was genuine. The poll result reflects user sentiment but does not provide independent verification of the materials.

Netflix, Rockstar and Take-Two are scheduled to present an extended version of the GTA VI trailer on August 27 at 3:00 p.m. ET. It is not known whether the online materials are connected to that showcase or to other internal presentations.

The person sharing the content included a QR code and requested cryptocurrency to support further leaks. A posted warning read, ‘Do not scan the QR code from the leak or connect your crypto wallets to it.’ Users and commentators advised against scanning the code or interacting with requests for cryptocurrency.

Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Until Rockstar or Take-Two provide confirmation, the footage and the map remain unverified.
