GTA 6 tracks bodies, fatigue and diverse NPCs in Vice City

Rockstar will model playable characters’ bodies and behaviors in GTA 6’s Vice City: diet and exercise change weight and muscle, sleep loss shows as facial exhaustion, and NPCs differ by neighborhood.

Rockstar outlined systems that will shape the daily lives of GTA 6‘s protagonists, Jason and Lucia, in the game’s Leonida setting. Players can control the couple together or switch to one character at a time. While driving, a passenger can interact with in-game social feeds, and the engine can shift control so a player moves between driving and shooting from the passenger seat during chases.

Character bodies will change based on diet and training: what the characters eat affects weight, and physical training builds and tones muscle. Extended periods without sleep, whether from evading police or long nights out, will produce visible facial exhaustion. The studio intends these changes to reflect player choices while preserving each character’s core identity, and the pair’s relationship affects how those systems interact.

Vice City will react to visible behavior. Carrying a rifle in public can draw reactions from bystanders, and non-player characters will vary across neighborhoods with differences in age, body type, clothing and lifestyle. The studio consulted former criminals, law enforcement officers, club promoters and other local figures to inform those character portrayals.

Some systems expand mechanics used in earlier titles, where characters could gain or lose weight, grow hair, accumulate dirt and injuries, or show signs of neglect. Rockstar presented the character and world systems as integrated elements designed to make Vice City more reactive and to give player choices a visible mechanical impact.
