GamerLegion beats paiN 2-1 to reach IEM Atlanta semifinals
GamerLegion defeated paiN 2-1 (Overpass 6-13, Nuke 13-6, Inferno 13-8) at IEM Atlanta on May 16, 2026 and will face Legacy in Saturday’s semifinal.
GamerLegion defeated paiN 2-1 at IEM Atlanta on May 16, 2026, winning Nuke and Inferno after dropping Overpass. The result advances GamerLegion to the tournament semifinals, where they will meet Legacy on Saturday at 20:30 local time.
paiN won the opening map, Overpass, 13-6. Brazilian rifler Guilherme “piriajr” Barbosa finished that map with 33 kills, 158 ADR and a 2.59 rating, leading paiN to the comfortable scoreline.
GamerLegion recovered on Nuke, taking both pistol rounds and closing the map 13-6. Oldřich “PR” Nový and Sebastian “Tauson” Lindelof each recorded strong kill totals on Nuke that kept GamerLegion in control and forced a decider on Inferno.
Inferno featured several late-game moments. Fredrik “REZ” Sterner produced a 1v2 post-plant clutch and later a four-kill sequence that finished the map and the series. Milan “hypex” Polowiec delivered a last-second 1v2 that helped GamerLegion build a 10-3 lead. GamerLegion had some difficulty closing rounds on their offensive side but completed the comeback with a 13-8 win.
Series statistics showed balanced contributions from GamerLegion. Hypex led the match with 44 kills, a 1.36 rating and 80.3 ADR. REZ had 43 kills, a 1.21 rating and 79.4 ADR. PR finished with 47 kills and a 1.10 rating, while Tauson had 39 kills and a 1.02 rating. Janusz “Snax” Pogorzelski recorded 33 kills and a 0.72 rating across the series. For paiN, piriajr ended the series with 57 kills, a 1.25 rating and 94.1 ADR. Rafael “saffee” Costa had 42 kills and a 1.09 rating, and João “snow” Vinicius had 40 kills and a 1.09 rating.
GamerLegion will face Legacy in the IEM Atlanta semifinal on Saturday at 20:30 local time. The winner of that match will advance to the tournament final.
