FURIA beat Aurora to reach Thunderpick final

FURIA beat Aurora 2-0 on Dust2 and Inferno to reach the Thunderpick World Championship final in Malta.

FURIA defeated Aurora 13-8 on Dust2 and 13-10 on Inferno to reach the Thunderpick World Championship final in Malta. The reigning champions remain in contention to defend their title.

Aurora won the teams’ previous meeting at ESL Pro League. FURIA used a different veto in the rematch and won several rounds with limited equipment, helping them recover from slow starts.

Aurora began Dust2 well, but FURIA took control after building its economy on the defensive side. Kaike “KSCERATO” Cerato and Mareks “YEKINDAR” Gaļinskis created repeated opening advantages. FURIA then carried a 7-5 lead into its attacking half and closed the map 13-8.

FURIA won the opening force-buy round on Inferno and moved ahead 4-1. Aurora traded rounds around the A bombsite before FURIA shifted its attacks to B. YEKINDAR’s entries helped FURIA win consecutive rounds, and a late return to A gave the team an 8-4 halftime lead.

FURIA won another force-buy round at the start of the second half to extend its advantage to 10-6. A clutch from Jimi “Jimpphat” Salo helped Aurora cut the deficit, but FURIA stopped a B-site attack with a pistol stack. FURIA then finished the map 13-10 and completed the 2-0 series win.

KSCERATO led the match with 38 kills and a 1.67 rating. YEKINDAR recorded 30 kills and a 1.39 rating, while Danil “molodoy” Golubenko had 31 kills. Ali “Wicadia” Haydar Yalçın led Aurora with 30 kills.

FalleN described tournament wins as a source of momentum, saying, “There’s a real boost from winning a tournament; it would be great if we could feel that again.” FURIA will play in the final before the upcoming Major.
