Forza Horizon 6 preloads live for Game Pass and founders
Preloads began May 12-13 on Xbox and Steam; Founder Edition buyers and active Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass subscribers can download ahead of the May 19 launch.
Preloads for Forza Horizon 6 began May 12-13 on Xbox Series X/S and Steam, allowing Founder Edition buyers and active Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass subscribers to download the full game ahead of the May 19 release. Owners of the Premium Edition gain earlier access starting May 15.
Playground Games confirmed the preload window in advance. The PlayStation 5 version is in development but will not be available at launch; the studio has cited a 2026 release window for PS5 without a firm date.
Eligible users include anyone who purchased a Founder Edition (Standard, Deluxe or Premium) and active Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass subscribers. Players who downloaded a small placeholder file prior to the preload will need to download the full installation to play on launch day.
File sizes differ by platform. The Xbox Series X build is about 135 GB, the Series S build is around 130 GB, and the PC Steam build is roughly 157–160 GB. An SSD is required for the PC install. The developer has confirmed the PC release will be Steam Deck verified at launch and will support ROG Ally and ROG Ally X handhelds. The PC version includes expanded rendering customization and improved handheld support compared with prior entries in the series.
Cross-save will work across Xbox Series X/S, Windows PC, Steam and PS5 once the PlayStation version is released. Physical-disc buyers can initiate a remote download to their console through the Xbox mobile app by selecting the “Download to Console” option.
To start the preload on Steam, open the Forza Horizon 6 store page and select the preload option if the game is pre-purchased. On Xbox Series X/S, open the Xbox Store, confirm the pre-order if required, and choose the preload option. There is no preload option on PS5 because the PlayStation release date has not been set.
Players should check available storage on their consoles and ensure a compatible SSD is installed on PC to avoid installation or launch issues.
