FlyQuest defeated the Sentinels 3-0 in the upper-bracket quarterfinals of the LCS Summer Split on Sunday, taking every map from blue side and advancing to an upper-bracket semifinal against Team Liquid.
The three games ended in 33, 36 and 31 minutes. Fahad “Massu” Abdulmalek (Canada/Iraq) led FlyQuest with a 23/6/21 kill/death/assist line. FlyQuest entered the playoffs as the fifth-place team after a seven-week regular season that began July 25. The Summer Split field consisted of eight teams in a single round-robin; matches were best-of-three. The top two finishers, LYON and Team Liquid, advanced directly to the semifinals. Teams finishing third through sixth moved to the quarterfinals, while the bottom two teams were eliminated.
Cloud9, which finished third, beat sixth-place Shopify Rebellion 3-0 in the other upper-bracket quarterfinal. The upper-bracket semifinals are scheduled as LYON vs. Cloud9 on Saturday, Sept. 19, and Team Liquid vs. FlyQuest on Sunday, Sept. 20. Teams that lose in the quarterfinals will shift to the losers’ bracket; Shopify Rebellion and Sentinels are set to meet in Losers’ Bracket Round 1 on Friday, Sept. 18.
The LCS Summer Split playoffs continue through October, with the finals determining the season champion.
