FalleN: FURIA title could restore team’s confidence
FURIA beat Legacy 2-1 in Malta to reach the Thunderpick World Championship semifinals, where a win could help restore the confidence built during the team’s 2025 title run.
FURIA defeated Legacy 2-1 at the Thunderpick World Championship in Malta on Oct. 16, ending a two-match losing streak against its Brazilian rival and reaching the semifinals.
FURIA will play the winner of Aurora and 9z on Oct. 17. The team had lost to Legacy at the Esports World Cup and FISSURE Playground 3 before Friday’s series.
Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo described the result as important but noted that FURIA had chances to win the opening map. He praised the team’s response on the next two maps, including a 9-3 terrorist-side half on Mirage. He said collecting that many rounds on the side is difficult in the current version of the game.
“Legacy has been playing well,” FalleN said. “They’ve managed to have good games against good teams, they won two tournaments this year, so it’s a team we’ve been following and watching.”
Thunderpick is FURIA’s seventh tournament of the season. The team is seeking a title before FalleN’s planned retirement at the end of 2026. Its schedule has left limited time for standard practice sessions.
FURIA has adjusted its routine by practicing on match days. The players sometimes complete two, three or four maps before their official matches. FalleN added that two teammates were sleeping before the Legacy series after becoming tired during practice.
“There’s no time to practice,” he said. “So we’ve been practicing every day before the games, and it’s been good that these games are taking place later in the day, because we manage to play two, three, sometimes even four maps before coming to the tournament.”
FURIA also made a positional change on Inferno against Legacy, moving KSCERATO to the B site. FalleN explained that the team made the adjustment because the game currently places greater emphasis on B-site play and because KSCERATO has strong potential in that position.
FURIA reached a Major final and made several playoff appearances this year, but those results have not matched its 2025 run, when the team won almost four titles in a row. The gap between those results has left the players wanting a tournament victory.
“Winning a tournament, making it to the finals, and being able to have that feeling that it’s all worth it and the effort is paying off — that would definitely be a huge boost,” FalleN said.
He added that winning had improved FURIA’s confidence, mood and satisfaction during its 2025 run. A title at the Thunderpick World Championship would give the team a chance to experience that effect again.
