Falcons’ kyousuke vows smarter play to regain consistency
Falcons rifler Maksim ‘kyousuke’ Lukin will focus on smarter, more disciplined play to restore consistency after a weak second half and ahead of Pro League.
Maksim ‘kyousuke’ Lukin, an 18-year-old rifler for Falcons, will focus on smarter and more disciplined play to regain consistency after a weaker second half following the Cologne Major.
Lukin described the period after the Major as “hard” and “rough,” noting losses to Legacy and Spirit that fell below the team’s expectations. The squad had higher hopes after Cologne and is now prioritizing a strong Pro League performance before the next Major in Katowice’s Spodek.
Known for aggressive rifling, Lukin acknowledged that his highs can be followed by sudden lows. “I’m trying to figure out myself how to be more consistent if my game doesn’t go the way I like,” he said, and he is setting personal goals to reduce risky plays and stabilize his form.
He described practical rules he is adopting in matches: avoid over-fights, be more disciplined and weigh the risk of a re-peek. “Can you afford to peek, basically, or no?” he added, summarizing the split-second judgments he wants to improve.
Coaching changes altered his role. Since karrigan joined the staff, Lukin has been more active in the lineup and moved into a clearer star-rifler position. He called peeking part of his identity—”I was basically born in this role”—but said he is tempering that instinct with more measured choices.
Falcons addressed map weaknesses during recent practice. Lukin pointed to Ancient as a map that previously made the team uncomfortable because mid-control often decides rounds; he said the squad found ways to play it. He also said he is more comfortable on Inferno than in the past, though he still prefers other maps.
On the silent-reload gameplay change, Lukin has tried the mechanic in practice and used it casually. He described it as mainly useful in late-round clutch situations and does not expect it to affect most rounds.
The Falcons view Pro League as a high-priority event and plan to use the tournament to present steadier performances and improved map play ahead of the Major in Katowice’s Spodek.
