Dplus Kia’s Brazilian roster wins APAC North, reaches Osaka

Dplus Kia beat Japan’s CAG by VARREL 2-0 on Oct. 24 to win APAC North Stage 2 and qualify for the BLAST R6 Major Osaka 2026, leaving Japan without a home team.

Dplus Kia defeated Japan’s CAG by VARREL 2-0 on Saturday, Oct. 24, to win APAC North Stage 2 and claim the subregion’s only spot at the BLAST R6 Major Osaka 2026. The result means Japan will have no team at the international event, which will be held in the country.

Dplus Kia won 7-3 on Chalet and 8-7 on Fortress. On CAG’s map pick, Dplus Kia built a 6-1 lead before the Japanese team tied the score at 7-7. Dplus Kia won the deciding round.

The teams previously met in the upper-bracket final on Oct. 17, when Dplus Kia also won 2-0. CAG returned to the title match after beating SCARZ in the lower bracket but could not change the result in the rematch.

Dplus Kia earned $15,000 and 420 Six Invitational points for winning the stage. The organization is based in South Korea, while its Rainbow Six Siege roster consists of five Brazilian players: Kaique “Faallz” Moreira, Juliano “Levy” Andrade, Dyjair “Mity” Soares, Ronaldo “ion” Osawa and Yuri “yurivst” Visintin. Ion and yurivst joined the team in September before Stage 2.

APAC North includes Japan and South Korea. The 2026 BLAST R6 rulebook requires players to live in the region where they compete, but it does not require them to be citizens of a country in that region. Dplus Kia’s roster therefore meets the stated residency requirement.

The qualification prompted criticism of the regional representation rules. Swedish Rainbow Six creator Tobias “BikiniBodhi” André described the possibility of a non-APAC roster representing the region at a Major in Japan as unfair, while adding that Dplus Kia was using the rules available to it.

Commentator Jack “Fresh” Allen wrote that a Major in Japan without CAG would be difficult to imagine. Brazilian G2 Esports player Karl “Alem4o” Zarth took a different view, calling criticism of the rules “childish” and describing the result as a competition decided by performance.
