Discord adds Xbox Game Pass Starter, discounts and Orbs to Nitro
Discord adds Xbox Game Pass Starter (50+ games, 10 hours cloud), hardware discounts and 250 monthly Orbs to Nitro at $9.99/month.
Discord announced Nitro Rewards on May 11, 2026, adding an Xbox Game Pass Starter tier, hardware discounts and an automatic monthly grant of 250 Orbs to Nitro without changing the $9.99-per-month price. The Game Pass Starter includes more than 50 PC and console titles and provides 10 hours of cloud gaming per month.
Lu Zhang, Senior Director of Product at Discord, described the program as a benefits package built with major gaming partners and added: “Your Nitro membership is still the same price, and Game Pass is now part of it.” Xbox CEO Asha Sharma had previously hinted at a partnership on April 22, posting a message that Discord replied to with “Soon.” Datamining had also revealed an “Xbox Game Pass Starter Edition” listing and the 10-hour cloud allowance before the announcement.
Confirmed titles in the starter catalog include Stardew Valley, Hades, Grounded, Fallout 4, Fallout 76, Fable, DayZ, Cities: Skylines, Dishonored 2, Gears of War 5 and DOOM Eternal. Discord indicated the catalog will expand over time and that the included selection is roughly comparable to Microsoft’s Game Pass Essential offering.
The Game Pass Starter tier allows subscribers to stream supported games across devices for up to 10 hours per month without installing them.
Nitro Rewards adds hardware discounts through partnerships with Logitech G, SteelSeries and KontrolFreek. Discounts include up to 30% off select Logitech G products, 15% off SteelSeries gear and 20% off KontrolFreek accessories. Offers will rotate over time and apply to keyboards, mice, headsets and controller accessories.
Subscribers will receive 250 Orbs each month while their Nitro membership remains active. Discord is introducing an Orbs Multiplier tied to Quests. Orbs can be spent in Discord’s Shop on profile cosmetics and other customization items.
The rollout is staged. Eligible Nitro members will see Nitro Rewards appear in the Nitro Home section of the Discord app over the coming weeks. Discord said no additional steps are required beyond having an active Nitro membership.
The announcement follows broader changes to Game Pass pricing by Xbox leadership, which cut Game Pass Ultimate to $22.99 from $29.99 and PC Game Pass to $13.99 from $16.49, and removed day-one Call of Duty releases from Game Pass.
Nitro launched 10 years ago as a subscription for communication and profile customization. With the addition of Game Pass Starter, hardware discounts and recurring Orbs, Nitro now bundles Discord’s existing features with gaming access and retail offers under the same monthly fee.
