CD Projekt Red to Reveal Witcher 3 Expansion at Gamescom

CD Projekt Red will reveal Songs of the Past, a major expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, at Gamescom 2026 in August. The expansion is scheduled to arrive in 2027, more than 11 years after the original game’s release.

The studio confirmed Songs of the Past will be shown publicly for the first time in Gamescom’s entertainment area and invited fans to visit for an early look. It did not specify whether the presentation will include only a reveal trailer or a playable demo for attendees.

CD Projekt Red described Songs of the Past as a ‘project of considerable scale.’

Marcin Łukaszewski, the studio’s social media manager, urged fans not to refer to the expansion as a typical ‘DLC,’ indicating the team expects a larger package than a standard add-on.

Details about the expansion’s story, scope and gameplay remain limited. Some community members have speculated the expansion could connect narrative elements to future franchise entries, including The Witcher 4; the studio has not confirmed any such link.

CD Projekt Red has given a release window of 2027 but has not announced a specific date or platform lineup. Additional information is expected when the studio presents the title at Gamescom in August.
