Boombl4: BETBOOM players are gaining confidence

BETBOOM captain Kirill “Boombl4” Mikhailov credited the team’s recent results with a rise in individual confidence after a second-place finish at the Thunderpick World Championship and wins over Spirit and Nemiga at PGL Masters Bucharest.

BETBOOM opened the Bucharest event with a win over Spirit, a regional rival and one of the world’s leading teams. The roster then defeated Nemiga to move to a 2-0 record.

The results followed BETBOOM’s run to the Thunderpick final. Mikhailov believes that finish reduced the pressure the team had felt at previous tournaments.

“After the Thunderpick tournament, when we took second place, I think we broke something mental for us,” he said. “We feel stress, but not a lot like in previous tournaments.”

Mikhailov linked the team’s improved results to stronger individual performances. He explained that greater confidence had helped BETBOOM close tight matches, especially on big stages and in playoff situations.

“Every player right now is more confident individually, so that’s why you can close some matches right now,” Mikhailov said. “It’s not only about the team progress, it’s about individual experience progress.”

The victory over Spirit carried additional meaning for Mikhailov because of the teams’ shared regional connections.

“It’s crazy to win one of the best teams in the world,” he said. “We are from one region, and we know each other, a lot of friends, and a lot of good memories with some of them.”

After Bucharest, BETBOOM was scheduled to compete at IEM Beijing before the PGL Major Singapore. Mikhailov indicated that the team was prioritizing progress over specific results at each event.

“Sometimes you’re thinking about winning the tournaments, but everyone is thinking about the focus on progress and how we’re playing,” he said. “Because if we progress, we should win the tournaments.”

For the Major, Mikhailov identified reaching the playoffs as a specific goal. He described the other tournaments as opportunities for the team to gain experience and continue improving.
