Astralis oust SINNERS at IEM Atlanta, reach Group B decider

Astralis eliminated SINNERS 13-11 on Mirage at IEM Atlanta on May 13 and will face GamerLegion in the Group B lower-bracket final for a playoff spot.

Astralis eliminated SINNERS at IEM Atlanta on May 13, taking Mirage 13-11 and advancing to the Group B lower-bracket final. The Danish side will play GamerLegion later Wednesday for a berth in the tournament playoffs.

Astralis reached the elimination match after a win over Liquid and a loss to Legacy earlier in the event. The matchup against SINNERS ended on Inferno after Astralis closed out Mirage 13-11.

AWPer Love “phzy” Smidebrant recorded just four kills on Mirage but recovered on Inferno, posting a 1.90 rating on that map. Across the match series, Gytis “ryu” Glušauskas led Astralis with 36 kills, a 79.5 average damage per round (ADR) and a 1.32 rating. Victor “Staehr” Staehr had 30 kills, an 85.3 ADR and a 1.17 rating. Jakob “jabbi” Nygaard added 30 kills with a 1.15 rating, Rasmus “HooXi” Nielsen finished with 28 kills and a 1.04 rating, and phzy ended the series with 25 kills and a 1.10 rating.

For SINNERS, Jordan “stressarN” Manevski recorded 35 kills, a 73.7 ADR and a 1.05 rating. Max “SHOCK” Kvapil had 32 kills and Kamil “kisserek” Banak 25 kills. Mădălin-Andrei “MoDo” Mirea and Sebastian “beastik” Daňo finished with 21 and 20 kills respectively.

The winner of Astralis versus GamerLegion will move into the playoff bracket; the loser will be eliminated from IEM Atlanta. The event is part of the Counter-Strike 2 international circuit and awards LAN playoff places and ranking points toward the season’s major tournaments.
