5star stun The MongolZ and Astralis at FISSURE Playground 3

Mongolian side 5star eliminated The MongolZ and Astralis in the group stage of FISSURE Playground 3 in China in early September. The team advanced from the event qualifier and reached the final group matches before losing to G2 and missing the playoff stage.

5star recorded consecutive group-stage wins over The MongolZ and Astralis, improving their standing at the event and drawing attention from regional and international observers.

Captain Tengis “rate” Boldbaatar admitted the results surprised his own squad. “We didn’t expect it. We played our game against The MongolZ and Astralis, we really surprised them and that’s it,” he said.

Boldbaatar credited domestic practice for the performance and mentioned opponents had underestimated 5star. “We had good practice in our country… they thought ‘it’s a bad team, 5star is easy for us,’ but we just smashed them,” he added.

He outlined the team’s plans to seek international experience and improve competitive metrics such as VRS as part of their efforts to qualify for larger events. “We want to bootcamp in Europe because they have really good teams. We are Asian, we cannot play against the European S-tier top teams,” Boldbaatar noted.

The MongolZ are Mongolia’s top-ranked team; 5star described the victory over them as important for local support. The event was 5star’s first S-tier tournament and the group-stage wins increased their visibility and ranking prospects.

Boldbaatar said the team will return to Mongolia to continue training and pursue support for travel and bootcamps in Europe, with the aim of competing at higher-level tournaments and seeking Major qualification.
