100 Thieves win FiRe Last Chance, reach Singapore Major

100 Thieves beat Wildcard 2-0 in Sunday’s FiRe Last Chance final in Buenos Aires to claim the region’s last Stage 1 spot at the Singapore Major.

100 Thieves defeated Wildcard 2-0 in the FiRe Last Chance final in Buenos Aires on Sunday, completing a five-match run without dropping a map. The result lifted the North American organization to 18th in the Europe VRS and secured the region’s final Stage 1 spot at the Singapore Major after HOTU finished second at the GLuck Moscow Cyber Games.

The Singapore Major will be 100 Thieves’ first Counter-Strike Major appearance. The organization qualified for the ELEAGUE Major Boston in 2018 with a former Immortals lineup, but the team was ruled out because of immigration issues.

Wildcard made the opening map, Cache, competitive. 100 Thieves led 9-3 on the Counter-Terrorist side before giving up a five-versus-two advantage in the pistol round. The teams traded map points, and 100 Thieves won in double overtime after Nicolai “device” Reedtz took a one-versus-one duel with three seconds remaining.

Device led the series with 45 kills and a 1.53 rating. Alex “poiii” Nyholm Sundgren had 43 kills, while Håvard “rain” Nygaard added 39.

The second map, Dust2, was less even. 100 Thieves took an 8-4 lead on the Terrorist side and ended the series with five straight rounds. The team had won 17 of its previous 18 Dust2 matches over the preceding three months.
