Wildcard eliminates NRG, reaches iBUYPOWER Masters FML semis

Wildcard eliminated NRG in the Group A decider at the North American LAN stage of iBUYPOWER Masters FML, overturning a 0-2 loss to the same opponent from Friday and securing a spot in the semifinals. NRG finish 5th–6th and are out of the tournament.

Jadan “HexT” Postma and Danny “Cxzi” Strzelczyk were the leading performers for Wildcard. HexT posted a series-high 1.55 rating with a 38–22 kill–death line. Cxzi finished 39–31 with a 1.30 rating. Sebastian “fr3nd” Kuśmierz and Nemanja “nEMANHA” Đukić contributed to closing the decisive series.

For NRG, Aran “Sonic” Groesbeek ended 33–33, Jeorge “Jeorge” Endicott went 26–29, and Michael “Grim” Wince recorded 20–32. NRG leave the event ranked eighth in the Americas VRS and could be overtaken by paiN if that Brazilian side defeats Imperial in the FERJEE In House Season 2 grand final on Sunday.

In the other Group A decider, M80 edged Voca in a series where both maps went the distance. Wildcard joins M80 and group winners Liquid and DENDELE in the semifinal field for the North American LAN.

Semifinal matches are scheduled for Sept. 26–27, with Liquid set to face M80 and DENDELE matched against Wildcard, followed by a third-place decider and the grand final to determine the event champion.

After the match, HexT reflected: “We played really badly yesterday. It feels good to have redemption. The calls were amazing. Danny played great. I played great. Everyone played great.”
