Riot to Rebuild VALORANT Champions Desks After Mouse Interference

Riot Games will rebuild stage desks at VALORANT Champions Shanghai after metal components caused wireless mouse interference; a temporary fix was applied and no further problems were reported on Day 3.

Riot Games is rebuilding the stage desks used at VALORANT Champions Shanghai after investigators traced wireless mouse interference to metal components in the desk construction. A temporary repair was put in place and no further issues were reported on Day 3 of the tournament.

During the tournament’s opening days players experienced PC stutters and wireless mouse malfunctions that triggered broadcast delays and pauses. Riot’s technical teams identified conductivity in certain metal parts of the desks as the source of the input problems.

Riot implemented an interim solution while arranging full reconstruction of the affected desks. Leo Faria, global head of VALORANT Esports, wrote that the company had identified the specific desk components causing the interference and that crews were rebuilding the desks entirely.

The tournament remained in the group stage. G2 Esports, Paper Rex, NRG, Karmine Corp, Team Vitality, LOUD, and 100 Thieves won their opening series. JD Gaming and FUT Esports were scheduled to play the final opening match, and the next round of winners’ matches was set to begin on September 29.

Riot’s technical account added: “The cause was conductivity issues from the material of the desks. A fix was implemented, and we did not experience any further disruption.” Riot did not provide a detailed timeline for completing the desk replacements, saying only that temporary repairs plus full reconstruction were the plan to maintain stable play for the remainder of the event.
