Prosecutors seek suspended sentence for NAVI captain Aleksib

Finnish prosecutors have requested a four-month suspended prison sentence for Aleksi “Aleksib” Virolainen, the captain of Natus Vincere, over an aggravated tax fraud charge. The Eastern Uusimaa District Court has not issued a verdict.

Prosecutors presented their case at a hearing on Friday, Oct. 16. They allege that Aleksib failed to include more than €53,000 in income from Valve on his 2019 tax return. The omission allegedly reduced his tax bill by more than €28,000.

The income came from Counter-Strike: Global Offensive stickers sold by Valve around major tournaments. The in-game items generate revenue for participating players and teams. The payments related to 2019, when Aleksib played for ENCE.

According to the prosecution, Aleksib was required to amend his pre-filled tax return to report the payments. The alleged offense took place between May 19 and Sept. 22, 2020, in Vantaa, Finland. Aleksib had joined OG by that time.

Aleksib does not dispute that the payments were missing from his tax return. He denies deliberately evading taxes. His defense maintains that he did not understand the sticker income had to be reported separately and believed taxes had already been handled through withholding from his regular salary. He was 22 when the income was earned.

Prosecutors argue that the omission was intended to provide a substantial financial benefit, which forms the basis of the aggravated tax fraud charge. The figures refer to separate amounts: more than €53,000 in allegedly undeclared income and more than €28,000 in unpaid tax.

A suspended sentence would not require Aleksib to serve time immediately, provided he meets the conditions set by the court. The court has not announced when it will issue its decision. The case became public in March 2026.
