Legacy accepts tough tests after BLAST Open Porto exit

Legacy exited the BLAST Open Porto group stage in Copenhagen after consecutive losses to Falcons and Vitality. The Brazilian roster had arrived in Denmark following a third-place finish at the Esports World Cup, with Santino “try” Rigal in the starting lineup.

Legacy lost an earlier match to Falcons and then fell to Vitality, eliminating the team before the playoffs. Eduardo “dumau” Wolkmer reflected on the Vitality series, saying Legacy controlled rotations at times but failed to close several key rounds.

Wolkmer pointed to multiple 4v2 situations that Legacy did not convert and highlighted individual plays from Vitality that changed momentum. “ZywOo hit amazing shots,” he noted, while adding that Legacy still had opportunities to finish the match.

On maps, Wolkmer described Mirage as a game where Legacy moved well as a unit and managed rotations. Nuke began with Legacy winning many rounds and putting Vitality under pressure; he said converting that opening advantage on Nuke would likely have produced a 2-0 result.

He explained the tactical impact of lost late-round situations: failing to secure numbers handed the opponent economy and rhythm, making subsequent rounds harder to win. He contrasted scenarios where opponents are vulnerable with pistols and the different challenge of facing an AWPer.

Wolkmer framed the Copenhagen results as part of the team’s development. He said handling pressure and difficult moments helps players grow and that the squad must improve its control after bad rounds. “We got momentum, we got experience, but sometimes it’s just a matter of closing now,” he added.

Legacy’s Esports World Cup run included wins over Natus Vincere, Falcons and FURIA on the way to third place, a series of results the team referenced when assessing the Copenhagen losses. On the Falcons match, Wolkmer said the scoreboard did not fully reflect the flow of play and attributed some swings to economic factors.

The team will return to practice ahead of upcoming events with the stated aim of converting close opportunities into wins. Wolkmer said the squad welcomes tests against top opponents and expects improvement in closing rounds and managing momentum.
