JiJieHao shocks world No.1 Spirit at Esports World Cup

JiJieHao defeated world No.1 Spirit 13-10 on Monday on the Paris stage of the Esports World Cup, handing the tournament favorites a Group A loss and earning a place in the winners’ bracket decider.

The match featured successful gamble stacks and quick rotations from JiJieHao that repeatedly put Spirit on the defensive. JiJieHao won several individual duels and key rounds, including an early momentum swing from a three-kill burst in the second pistol round.

Dionis ‘sinnopsyy’ Budeci led JiJieHao with 17 kills, 14 deaths and an average damage per round (ADR) of 95.4, recording the match-high impact. Hussein ‘m1N1’ Hijazi finished 17-12 with 69.6 ADR and a 1.21 rating, including a 2v4 triple. Bebu ‘Bibu’ Aadil went 16-15 with 84.6 ADR and a 1.04 rating. Aleksandar ‘CacaNito’ Kjulukoski was 14-13 with 64.7 ADR and a 1.09 rating, while Osama ‘0SAMAS’ Orabi posted 14-13 and a late 1v2 that sustained pressure.

Spirit’s primary contributor was Danil ‘donk’ Kryshkovets, who had 23 kills, 16 deaths, 93.2 ADR and a 1.58 rating, and produced several clutch deagle rounds. Dmitry ‘sh1ro’ Sokolov finished 8-15 with 52.3 ADR and a 0.52 rating and missed several opportunities, including a whiffed spray and a death inside his own molotov. Boris ‘magixx’ Vorobiev ended 13-15 with 71.5 ADR and a 1.18 rating. Andrey ‘tN1R’ Tatarinovich was 13-16 with 60.7 ADR and a 0.78 rating, and Myroslav ‘zont1x’ Plakhotiax finished 10-17 with 53.8 ADR and a 0.75 rating.

After the match, Dionis ‘sinnopsyy’ Budeci told Freya Spiers: ‘We are feeling so confident. We just beat the world number one so I don’t know what to say anymore.’

The result changes the Group A schedule: JiJieHao will face GamerLegion for a spot in the round of 16. Spirit drop into an elimination best-of-three against Luminosity tomorrow.
