Intel Extreme Masters will return to the U.S. April 5–11, 2027 with a $1,000,000 prize and 16 teams; the host city has not been announced.
ESL confirmed that Intel Extreme Masters will return to the United States April 5–11, 2027. The event will carry a $1,000,000 prize pool and feature 16 teams. The host city has not been announced, and ESL’s product manager confirmed the plan is to stage the tournament in an arena.
Eleven teams will receive invites through the global VRS. One invite will go to a North America VRS team and one to a South America VRS team. The remaining three places will be decided through qualifiers: two global qualifier slots and one Americas qualifier slot.
The competition will start with a group stage composed of two groups of eight teams. Each group will use a double-elimination format, with four teams from each group advancing to the playoffs.
The playoff phase will include eight teams and will run over a single weekend. Four quarter-final matches are scheduled for Friday, two semi-finals on Saturday, and the third-place match and grand final on Sunday.
The most recent U.S. IEM was held on the DreamHack show floor in Atlanta. Organizers have not released details on the 2027 venue’s capacity, ticketing or local partners.
IEM is ESL’s long-running international tournament circuit. The announced invite and qualifier structure preserves direct invites through regional VRS channels alongside open qualifying opportunities.
