HEROIC benches coach Joonas “doto” Forss

HEROIC has moved head coach Joonas “doto” Forss to a benched coach role, ending his short time leading the main roster. Forss led the team to title wins at Stake Ranked Episode 3 and Stake Pulse Beat II and oversaw the squad’s qualifying campaign for IEM Beijing.

Forss was promoted to the main team in July following Tobias “TOBIZ” Theo’s departure. The 30-year-old’s previous positions include coaching ENCE Prospects and HEROIC Academy; the appointment to the main roster marked his first head-coaching role at a top-tier team.

HEROIC CEO Joachim Harg issued a statement praising Forss’s results with both the academy and the main team and saying the decision was made with the project’s long-term direction in mind. “Joonas has delivered great results for us, both with the Academy team and now with the main team,” Harg wrote. “He has won us two trophies and put us in an excellent position to qualify for the PGL Singapore Major.” Harg added that Forss is “a genuinely great guy,” and described the decision as incredibly difficult.

Forss addressed the change on X, describing himself as “disappointed” while noting the achievements. “We won two trophies and put ourselves in a strong position to qualify for the Major,” he wrote. He thanked players and staff for their work together and said he wants to continue coaching and is open to new opportunities.

HEROIC are currently ranked 17th in the global VRS and are scheduled to compete at Stake Pulse Beat III from October 12-17. The organisation listed its active lineup as Linus “nilo” Bergman, Tim “susp” Ångström, Christoffer “Chr1zN” Storgaard, Antonio “MartinezSa” Martinez and Ludvig “Brollan” Brolin, with Joonas “doto” Forss moved to a benched coach role. HEROIC did not name who will assume primary coaching duties or provide further details on the strategic reasons behind the change.
