Gumayusi Thought of T1 Teammates After MSI Win

Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyung said his immediate reaction to winning the 2026 Mid-Season Invitational was to think of the teammates he had competed with at T1 in previous editions of the event. In an interview published on Sept. 22, he described a lingering regret at not having secured the title with those players.

Gumayusi won MSI 2026 in his first season with Hanwha Life Esports, completing a 3-2 grand final victory over Bilibili Gaming on July 12. Before joining Hanwha, he had appeared at four consecutive MSIs with T1 without winning the trophy.

With T1, he finished runner-up in 2022 and 2025 and placed third in 2023 and 2024. Those results preceded his first international title at MSI.

On his decision to leave T1, Gumayusi said he wanted a different environment to create new opportunities for himself and that he remained grateful to the team that had given him his start. “I left a team I’m incredibly grateful to, one that gave me the precious opportunity to start, because I wanted to find and create new value for myself,” he explained.

The interview was published on the eve of the Aichi–Nagoya Asian Games. Gumayusi is listed on South Korea’s roster alongside players he previously competed with at T1, including Choi “Zeus” Woo-je, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok and Ryu “Keria” Min-seok.

The MSI title is Gumayusi’s first major international trophy and his first MSI victory after multiple high finishes with T1.
