Grashog: GamerLegion hopes to return but outlook bleak

Denis “Grashog” Hristov said he hopes GamerLegion can return this season after the team was eliminated in the group stage of FISSURE Playground 3 in China. GamerLegion lost to FURIA 2-1 on Sept. 8 and to TYLOO 2-0 on Sept. 9 and now sit 29th in the VRS ranking, outside automatic Major invite range. Janusz “Snax” Pogorzelski was unable to travel after an older-style passport suffered a small tear and airport staff denied entry.

Hristov was brought in as a last-minute stand-in and received about 20 minutes’ notice to bring a full-size mousepad. He had not played competitively for eight to nine months while serving as assistant coach and had limited practice time with the roster before the China event. He took on in-game leadership duties and played in rounds while relying on notes and ad hoc roles.

He pointed to a positive showing on Cache’s T side but called the Mirage match against FURIA disappointing. The unexpected roster change and restricted preparation affected the team’s match performance and contributed to the loss of VRS points during the Major qualification window.

GamerLegion faced several availability issues earlier in the season. Snax missed previous events for a medical appointment, the organisation used Maden as a substitute at one event, and the team forfeited at least one best-of-three. Management attempted emergency travel documents and expedited visas to get Snax to the venue but could not secure his arrival in time.

The roster added FL4MUS earlier in the year and has been settling since. Teammate Tauson has ongoing health concerns but traveled and played at FISSURE Playground 3.

Coaching duties are shared between head coach Adrian “imd” and Hristov. Imd handles broader tactical planning while Hristov focuses on positional detail and small setups. The coaching group and Snax communicate in Polish, which Hristov described as helping coordination despite his Bulgarian nationality.

The team plans to focus on LAN events as it seeks points before the Major invite cutoff at the end of October. Planned entries include Logitech G Play Connect in Warsaw and a tournament in Belgrade. Hristov summed up the immediate objective with a single-line directive: “We have to win. We have to win games.” He also recalled the late notice to stand in: “I found out literally 20 minutes before I had to leave for my flight that, ‘Denis, take your normal mouse pad… you might play.'” On his match readiness he added, “I haven’t been playing for over eight months… I’m not in shape at all, but I’m still playing the game at 3.5K ELO on FACEIT.”
