GamerLegion rules out Snax as IGL for next season

GamerLegion will not use Janusz “Snax” Pogorzelski as its in-game leader next season. Aleksandr “shalfey” Marenov will stay in the role until his trial ends.

GamerLegion will not return Janusz “Snax” Pogorzelski to its in-game leader role next season. Aleksandr “shalfey” Marenov will remain in the position through the end of his trial, after which the team will decide whether to retain him.

Shalfey joined GamerLegion on trial before the RLG Tesla Cup 2026 and had three days of practice with the roster before the LAN event in Belgrade, Serbia. He had not previously communicated in English with the lineup and initially knew only teammate FL4MUS.

GamerLegion finished second at the tournament after beating Envy twice and FaZe. HOTU defeated the team in the final. The result moved GamerLegion up 14 places to 33rd in the global VRS rankings after it failed to qualify for the Singapore Major.

“There are no plans for Snax to be IGLing for GamerLegion next season,” team manager Adrian “imd” Pieper said after the final. “Right now, until the end of the season, we are playing with shalfey, and then at the end of the trial period, we’re going to decide whether we continue or what the plan is going to be.”

Shalfey was recommended by FL4MUS, who is his friend. He had previously served as an in-game leader for forZe and 9 Pandas. GamerLegion selected him after discussions about the team’s future direction.

Pieper said shalfey adapted quickly to the lineup and that language had not become a major issue. The team still had frequent miscommunication during matches after compressing its preparation into three days.

GamerLegion will practice with shalfey before the 2027 season. The team intends to qualify for every Major and attend as many tier-one events as possible.
