FURIA coach urges balance before Major amid packed schedule

FURIA coach Sid “sidde” Macedo wants the team to use its short breaks between tournaments to improve its playbook and manage fatigue before the Major. The team has three events remaining before the tournament, including Thunderpick and Bucharest.
FURIA reached the ESL Pro League Season 24 playoffs but were eliminated after a competitive run. Macedo described the result as a source of pride after the team recovered from a difficult group stage.
“I’m proud of how we played the first map,” Macedo said after the elimination. “We had a very low point during the group stage, but after that, we recovered well, and we came together as a team, and we put up a good fight today.”
Macedo’s work has included helping the players focus while they handle a demanding schedule and frustration over inconsistent results. FURIA have not matched the level they reached the previous year, and the coach believes the team must find ways to stay motivated.
“Right now, my job is finding the right things for us to focus on because everyone has a lot on their minds,” he said. “Everything is happening at the same time for us. We need to deal with frustrations better, and we need to find motivation.”
FURIA have played tournaments in several regions during the season, with frequent flights and limited time to rest or update their strategies. Macedo wants the team to use every available practice period before the Major.
“We need to value these days that we have between now and Thunderpick, and also after Thunderpick going to Bucharest,” he added. “Every small time that we have to add things to the playbook or to just improving something, we need to actually make good use of it.”
The coach also addressed a timeout in which FURIA player YEKINDAR accused the team of playing like it was in a FACEIT match instead of a professional game. Macedo linked the comment to frustration over players giving away opening kills and failing to execute their plans together.
“We are getting entry on every part of the map,” Macedo explained. “We have some plans for the game, and we cannot put them together because we are just giving entry kills or we’re not picking things together.”
Macedo added that YEKINDAR helps hold the team accountable when players skip parts of their strategy or lose focus. FURIA’s remaining events before the Major will include Thunderpick and Bucharest. The Major will be Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo’s final event.
