Sashi has signed New Zealand player Michael “chelleos” Hawkins from Rooster to replace Frederik “acoR” Gyldstrand, adding another Oceanic player to its Counter-Strike roster.
Hawkins, 26, spent the past four years with Rooster and recorded a 1.15 average rating, mainly in regional competitions. He also played in several ESL Pro League seasons and ESL Challenger events in 2023 and 2024.
He joins a Sashi lineup featuring Australian players Tynan “TjP” Purtell and Jordan “Hatz” Bajic, alongside Rasmus “Zyphon” Nordfoss and Anton “Anlelele” Huynh. Nicolai “HUNDEN” Petersen remains the team’s coach.
The signing follows Sashi’s decision to add TjP and Hatz on short-term contracts while seeking to compete through the Asia Valve Regional Standings. Hawkins gives Sashi a majority of players from the Asia VRS region, regardless of Anlelele’s status.
Valve changed its VRS rules after teams used short-term roster changes to switch regions before the Singapore Major. The publisher said teams that pursued region changes ahead of the event would be disqualified from the Major qualification process unless they contacted Valve and reached a solution.
