ESL FACEIT Group names Marc FFoerster senior director

Marc FFoerster has been appointed Senior Director of Commercial Strategy at ESL FACEIT Group to oversee commercial operations for its tournaments and the FACEIT platform.

Marc FFoerster joined ESL FACEIT Group this month as Senior Director of Commercial Strategy. In the role he will oversee commercial operations for the group’s global tournaments and the FACEIT platform.

He will build the commercial framework for EFG’s event portfolio and grassroots programmes, including FACEIT pathways to help amateur players move into professional careers. His responsibilities include commercial planning, partnership management and revenue strategy across tournament properties and platform services.

FFoerster commented, “I will focus on building a sustainable commercial foundation to support the company’s tournaments and grassroots programmes.” He plans to apply lessons from his time at Build a Rocket on long-term strategy, managing growth and building teams able to handle large international client accounts.

FFoerster has a nearly two-decade connection to ESL. He competed on ESL stages in the Intel Friday Night Games series and won a German Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne championship. In industry roles, he served as Product Owner Esports at SPORT1 GmbH from 2018 to 2019, helping launch eSPORTS1, a pay-TV channel for esports in Germany, and from 2019 to 2022 he was Associate Director Esports at ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE, co-leading the broadcaster’s esports unit and working on strategy, product development and commercial partnerships.

From 2022 until mid-2026 FFoerster led the consulting division at Build a Rocket, an esports consultancy owned by SPORTFIVE, overseeing a team of about 70 people and holding full responsibility for its budget and results. He also worked as a freelance guest lecturer at the Hochschule für angewandtes Management from 2024 to 2025, teaching how esports tournaments, leagues and exhibition matches are organised and monetised across different games and regions.

He cited the ongoing Esports World Cup, the upcoming first Esports Nations Cup and last month’s IEM Cologne as evidence of the group’s position in the events market.

In his new role he will coordinate commercial efforts across EFG’s global tournaments and platform offerings, support the scaling of grassroots initiatives and work to strengthen relationships with international partners and clients.
