Counter-Strike 2 adds Rush, a queueable 3v3 capture mode

Valve added Rush, a queueable 3v3 capture-the-point mode in Counter-Strike 2 where teams fight to control a central tower across a rotating seven-map sequence chosen from 15 arenas.

Valve released Rush in a recent Counter-Strike 2 update. The mode is available through standard matchmaking and supports three-player teams on each side.

At the start of a match players are randomly assigned Terrorist or Counter-Terrorist and keep that role for the entire match. Each round centers on a single tower that one team controls when the round begins.

To capture the tower an attacking player must reach it and press the interact button. A team wins the round if it controls the tower when the round timer ends or if it takes control before time runs out. Eliminating all enemy players does not end the round unless the tower is seized before the clock expires.

Matches use seven arenas drawn at random from a pool of 15 maps. Teams always begin on the middle arena, Map 4, which starts under Counter-Terrorist control. The first three arenas relative to a team’s starting position begin under that team’s control, while the last three begin under the opponent’s control.

The first and seventh arenas in the sequence are designated castles. To win a match a team must advance through arenas and capture the enemy castle on Map 7. Winning several consecutive arenas where the tower starts under the opponent’s control is typically required to reach the castle.

Losing a round moves a team backward through the sequence toward Map 1; a loss on Map 1 ends the match. Winning on a lower-numbered map moves the team forward again and gives another chance to progress toward Map 7.

Valve presented Rush as the first wholly new gameplay mode released after CS:GO transitioned to CS2 and the first new mode added since Premier in 2023. The mode features short, objective-focused rounds and a random seven-map rotation to vary match layouts.

Rush is now playable in Counter-Strike 2 matchmaking, with each match offering different combinations of seven arenas drawn from the 15-map pool.
