BC.Game eliminated by FOKUS after double OT loss

BC.Game were knocked out of the first PGL Masters Bucharest Europe Open Qualifier on 4 September, losing the series 2-1 to FOKUS. Both Mirage and Nuke were decided in overtime, and the result represented BC.Game’s fourth failed attempt to qualify for a major event in the past month.

BC.Game won the opening map on Dust2 13-4, leading 9-3 at halftime and closing the map despite FOKUS taking the second pistol round. Mirage swung in FOKUS’s favor: FOKUS opened 7-0 on the CT side, led 8-4 at the break and won the map 16-14 in overtime. On Nuke, FOKUS again led 9-3 at halftime. BC.Game forced overtime and briefly led 18-16 in the first OT, but FOKUS completed a 3-0 T-side run in the second overtime to win 19-16 and take the match.

Azbayar “Senzu” Munkhbold was BC.Game’s top performer with a 1.19 rating and 24 kills across the series. Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev posted a 1.09 rating. New signing Emil “Magisk” Reif had a 1.06 rating and recorded 26 kills on Dust2. Recent addition Ayush “mzinho” Batbold finished the series with a 0.86 rating. Magisk and mzinho were added to the roster this month with the expectation they would strengthen the team’s qualifying chances.

BC.Game reached the top eight of the first open qualifier before encountering FOKUS. The organization had also failed to qualify for the Esports World Cup, Stake Pulse Beat II and IEM Beijing over the past month. BC.Game confirmed it will enter the second PGL Masters Bucharest Open Qualifier, which begins on 5 September, giving the team an immediate opportunity to attempt qualification again.
