aliStair returns to FlyQuest as AWPer and IGL

Alistair “aliStair” Johnston rejoined FlyQuest as the team’s AWPer and in-game leader, returning in a 2-0 win over NEXVOID at the IEM Beijing 2026 Asia Closed Qualifier on Feb. 9, 2026.

FlyQuest confirmed Johnston’s return after he was benched in late 2024 and left the organization in 2025. After departing FlyQuest he signed with SemperFi in March 2025 and then with THUNDER DOWNUnder in October 2025; with THUNDER DOWNUnder he reached the first stage of the IEM Cologne Major, where his team was eliminated by FlyQuest.

During his earlier stint with FlyQuest Johnston averaged a 1.02 rating. His replacements included Romanian AWPer Iulian “regali” Harjău, who posted a 1.11 rating over his year with the team, and João “story” Vieira, who posted a 1.10 in the first half of 2026 before returning to Portugal to play with SAW.

Johnston will assume in-game leadership while resuming primary AWP responsibilities, returning Joshua “INS” Potter to a non-calling role. Potter had been the team’s statistical leader before taking the IGL role in 2025.

FlyQuest’s active roster lists Justin “jks” Savage, Alistair “aliStair” Johnston, Joshua “INS” Potter, Declan “Vexite” Portelli and Corey “nettik” Browne. Aaron “AZR” Ward is listed as coach. FlyQuest’s next opponent in the qualifier bracket is Rare Atom.

In an announcement video, Johnston described the roster as already skilled and focused on consistency: ‘These players don’t need a lot of corrections and direction; they already know how to play the game. It’s just about finding that consistent level where we’re all playing together, and we all see the game in a very similar way.’
