ZywOo leads Vitality to 2-0 win over FaZe at IEM Atlanta

Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut led Vitality to a 2-0 victory over FaZe at IEM Atlanta on May 13, winning Nuke 16-14 and Dust2 13-5 to continue their lower-bracket run.

Vitality defeated FaZe 2-0 at IEM Atlanta on May 13, winning Nuke 16-14 and Dust2 13-5. The result eliminates FaZe from the American event and sets Vitality up to face B8 in a lower-bracket match later the same day at 8:30 p.m. local time; B8 advanced earlier by eliminating FUT.

On Nuke, Vitality shut down FaZe’s early Terrorist-side looks before FaZe rallied. Robin “ropz” Kool produced a 1v3 clutch as FaZe closed to a 11-8 lead. Vitality recovered late: ZywOo helped force overtime, ropz made another key clutch and Shahar “flameZ” Shushan finished the map with an ace to secure a 16-14 win.

Vitality were more dominant on Dust2, winning 13-5 after losing both pistol rounds. Vitality controlled the rounds on the map and closed the series without another map loss. ZywOo registered a 1.86 rating on Dust2, his team’s map pick.

Across the series, ZywOo led all players with 44 kills, 25 deaths and a 1.49 rating. Ropz finished 40-29 with a 1.41 rating. Dan “apEX” Madesclaire went 31-35 with a 1.04 rating, William “mezii” Merriman was 28-33 with a 0.97 rating, and flameZ posted 28-31 and a 0.84 rating. For FaZe, David “frozen” Čerňanský had 38-33 and a 1.25 rating, Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken recorded 38-37 and a 1.13 rating, Ryan “Neityu” Aubry was 30-34 with a 1.03 rating, Jakub “jcobbb” Pietruszewski had 21-35 and a 0.74 rating, and Helvijs “broky” Saukants finished 24-33 with a 0.71 rating.

In a post-match broadcast interview, Twistzz commented, “The Vitality plot armor hit late on, and we just couldn’t close it out.” He referenced FaZe’s opening loss to paiN and a win over NRG while addressing inconsistent results at the event ahead of their next competition at Stake Ranked Episode 2.

Vitality remain in the lower bracket and will play B8 later the same day. FaZe are eliminated from IEM Atlanta and will turn focus to upcoming events and roster preparations.
