zorte: BETBOOM will focus on team play, not ranking points

BETBOOM beat Liquid to reach the IEM Beijing playoffs, with Aleksandr “zorte” Zagodyrenko saying the team will focus on team play rather than ranking points.

BETBOOM reached the IEM Beijing playoffs by beating Liquid in a close series. The team lost a 9-3 lead on Nuke before winning the Mirage decider.

Liquid repeatedly attacked the A site on Nuke and took the map after BETBOOM failed to adjust. The teams were tied during the late stages, with Liquid winning the remaining rounds.

A key moment on Mirage came after zorte missed a shot on the B site. With enough money to buy either an AWP or a rifle, he followed captain Kirill “Boombl4” Mikhailov’s call to purchase the sniper rifle. Zorte then recorded an AWP ace that put BETBOOM on match point.

“Before this round, I missed a crucial shot on B site, but I think it’s just a game moment,” zorte said. “You just don’t need to focus on negative emotions. Boombl4 called me to buy an AWP. I just bought the AWP, and somehow it worked.”

Zorte also discussed Liquid’s recent results. Liquid had beaten MOUZ 2-1 in its opening match at the previous event in Bucharest. He described the team as having shown good form while still needing more experience, particularly among its younger players. He added that playing for Liquid brings pressure because of the attention around the organization and its results.

Zorte returned to competitive Counter-Strike after taking a break. He said the rest helped him decide that he still wanted to compete. He then played for TDK for a month after receiving an invitation from Kirill “Boombl4” Mikhailov and Sergey “groove” Naumov.

He later returned to BETBOOM after the team encountered visa problems and invited him to join its lineup.

“Life is really unpredictable,” zorte said. “You just need to do what you really want in your life, from the heart, and you will progress for sure.”

Before the season, BETBOOM aimed to enter the top 10 and earn invitations to major tournaments. Zorte said the team had reached those targets and could now focus on its game rather than ranking points.

“We just need to focus on how we play as a team, and not care about points and stuff,” he said. “For the Singapore Major, actually, I don’t care. It’s like one more tournament.”
