xertioN calls current MOUZ lineup its strongest yet

MOUZ reached the IEM Beijing playoffs with wins over TYLOO and BETBOOM. Captain Dorian “xertioN” Berman called the roster the strongest in the team’s history.

MOUZ earned its sixth playoff berth of the Fall season at IEM Beijing after beating TYLOO and BETBOOM. The team is targeting a trophy at one of its next two tournaments, IEM Beijing or the event in Hong Kong, before the Singapore Major.

“We’re looking to grab one trophy out of these two tournaments,” xertioN said. “Hopefully that will also give us a boost to continue on this tough schedule.”

MOUZ played in Beijing shortly after arriving in the city. The travel schedule left some players dealing with jet lag, including xertioN, who said he was still affected during the match. He added that his teammates supported him when his individual performance was below its usual level.

The Israeli captain also discussed MOUZ’s progress since the additions of Oldřich “PR” Nový and Adrian “xelex” Vincze. He described PR as a versatile player and xelex as a developing defensive anchor on the Counter-Terrorist side.

“I think this is the best MOUZ we have ever seen,” xertioN said. “The pieces right now fit the best ever.”

He attributed the change to a different balance of roles. Previous versions of the roster included Spinx and Jimpphat, whom xertioN described as more passive players. He added that torzsi sometimes had to focus on utility duties despite preferring a more aggressive style.

MOUZ now has more players who can change their approach during a round, according to xertioN. He said the current lineup works together more effectively in matches.

Xelex has also been given more freedom to make decisions. XertioN and coach Dennis “sycrone” Nielsen are encouraging him to develop his own ideas instead of following every instruction from the captain.

“I don’t want him to be like a puppet,” xertioN said. “I want him to have his own moves.”

XertioN referred to a late-round decision in overtime when xelex called to return to the Sandwich position. He said xelex is becoming more willing to call his own plays and that maps such as Ancient and Cache require him to control key areas, including mid.

The captain also described his role as an in-game leader. He contributes through individual plays, round planning and setting up teammates, rather than relying only on strategic calls.

XertioN acknowledged that he is not in his best individual form. He added that the packed tournament schedule has reduced the time available for preparation and individual practice.
