Woxic clutches lift Aurora past The MongolZ to quarterfinals

Woxic won three straight clutches on Overpass as Aurora beat The MongolZ 2-0 at PGL Astana on May 13, 2026, advancing to the quarterfinals.

Aurora advanced to the quarterfinals of PGL Astana after defeating The MongolZ 2-0 on May 13, 2026. Aurora won Overpass 13-11 and then closed the series on Mirage.

On Overpass, Aurora recovered from a 2-7 deficit to win 13-11. Özgür ‘woxic’ Eker won two one-on-one rounds to end the first half and then a one-on-two to open the CT side. Caner ‘soulfly’ Kesici registered several late CT-side impacts. Ayush ‘mzinho’ Batbold led The MongolZ on Overpass with 19 CT-side kills and finished the series with 44 total kills.

On Mirage, Aurora began ahead but lost both pistol rounds and fell behind 10-9 before regaining control in the gun rounds. Sodbayar ‘Techno’ Munkhbold posted a 1.72 rating on the map while helping The MongolZ reach 10-9. Ismailcan ‘XANTARES’ Dörtkardeş produced multiple high-impact plays as Aurora closed out the match.

Series totals showed XANTARES with 37 kills, soulfly 35 and woxic 35 for Aurora. The MongolZ relied on mzinho’s 44 kills and Techno’s 33 across the two maps.

Woxic told James “BanKs” Banks, “Last 22 matches, they choose to ban Overpass 18 times. If we lost this, it would have been a mental issue, on their worst map. But God wanted it this way.”

The MongolZ are eliminated from PGL Astana. They played five matches at the event, all against teams that reached the playoffs, and recorded losses to Falcons, Spirit and Aurora. The club parted ways with Azbayar ‘Senzu’ Munkhbold after 2025.

Woxic noted Aurora added a sports psychologist before the event. Aurora’s quarterfinal opponent will be determined by the tournament draw.
