Vitality thrash FURIA to reach StarSeries Fall upper final

Vitality defeated FURIA 2-0 at the StarLadder StarSeries Fall bracket on Sept. 19, winning Mirage 13-8 and Dust2 13-5 to advance to the upper-bracket final, where they will play Aurora for a place in the grand final.

On Mirage Vitality trailed 1-5 early before a round-ending error by FURIA’s Gabriel ‘FalleN’ Toledo, who ran the bomb into William ‘mezii’ Merriman while teammates were on the opposite site, allowed Vitality to recover. Mathieu ‘ZywOo’ Herbaut opened five rounds in the first half and recorded 15 kills by halftime, including a combat-AWP triple. After the break Vitality added a pistol-round triple, Robin ‘ropz’ Kool won a 1v2, and ZywOo completed a 1v3 clutch and another triple as Vitality moved into double digits. Danil ‘molodoy’ Golubenko had a quiet map and Kaike ‘KSCERATO’ Cerato’s scoring was not enough to change the result.

Dust2 began with an early quad-kill from ZywOo that helped recover a 3v5 pistol situation, but the map was shaped largely by Dan ‘apEX’ Madesclaire and Shahar ‘flameZ’ Shushan. apEX produced several early multi-kills and kept pressure on FURIA after the side switch. Vitality led 7-5 at halftime and extended the lead after the swap. William ‘mezii’ Merriman closed the series with a 1v2 clutch to seal the 13-5 Dust2 win.

Series statistics show ZywOo finished 39-25 with a 107.5 ADR and a 1.63 rating. Mezii posted 27-22, 80.8 ADR and a 1.45 rating. apEX ended 29-25 with a 69.4 ADR and a 1.05 rating, while flameZ was 29-27 with a 71.3 ADR and a 1.02 rating. For FURIA, KSCERATO led with 28-31, a 92.0 ADR and a 1.10 rating; FalleN finished 18-30.

The result keeps Vitality in the upper bracket and sends FURIA to the lower bracket. Vitality had a slow start to the Fall season and previously played with a stand-in at BLAST Porto. The winner of the Vitality versus Aurora upper final will advance to the StarSeries Fall grand final.
