NiKo: Falcons ‘destroyed’ in 0-2 Esports World Cup exit

Falcons were knocked out of the Esports World Cup after a 0-2 loss to Legacy. NiKo called the performance ‘very poor’ and noted he could not recall being beaten so badly.

Falcons were eliminated from the Esports World Cup after losing 2-0 to Legacy. The match ended in two maps, Mirage and Dust2, and sent Falcons out of the tournament.

The team had advanced through its previous three matches in Paris before the defeat. Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov was the only Falcons player to deliver a notable individual performance in the loss.

Nikola “NiKo” Kovač recorded a 0.76 rating across both maps. He described the result as “very poor” and called the exit “super disappointing,” adding, “I don’t remember the last time we got destroyed like this.”

NiKo characterized the outing as a shock and said Falcons looked “completely different” to the side that had been performing well in earlier matches. He said he struggled to play his usual game, explaining, “I couldn’t really play my game for some reason. I couldn’t dictate the tempo, take the duels on my own terms.”

On tactics, NiKo pointed to slow and hesitant rounds and suggested the team may have overfocused on countering Legacy instead of playing to its strengths. He praised Legacy’s approach, saying the opponent stuck to its plan, executed it and increased aggression on Mirage after being punished.

NiKo stated he tried to respond on Dust2’s CT side but that the comeback came “perhaps a bit too late.” Falcons will review the match ahead of upcoming events to identify specific issues in individual form and team execution.
