MOUZ defeated M80 2-1 and The MongolZ beat Liquid 2-1 on May 22 at the CS Asia Championships in Shanghai, eliminating M80 and Liquid from the event. Both victors advance to the lower-bracket finals and are one match from the playoffs.
MOUZ won Overpass, dropped Inferno, then closed the series on Mirage. MOUZ’s CT side on Overpass relied on aggressive defense; Dorian ‘xertioN’ Berman led the team with a 59-23 K-D, a 1.77 rating, 104.9 ADR and 87.0% KAST. Adrian ‘xelex’ Vincze finished 44-28 with a 1.29 rating, and Lotan ‘Spinx’ Giladi posted a 40-26 line with a 1.18 rating. M80 took Inferno after early impact from Mason ‘Lake’ Sanderson and later contributions from Fritz ‘slaxz-‘ Dietrich, but M80 struggled on Mirage where missed T-side utility and several impact rounds from MOUZ prevented a comeback. M80’s top series performer was Lake with a 32-47 record and a 0.96 rating.
The MongolZ and Liquid opened on Mirage, where The MongolZ led 9-3 at halftime but Liquid recovered to win the map. Roland ‘ultimate’ Tomkowiak posted a 1.58 rating on Mirage. The MongolZ then won Inferno 13-7 after securing a second-round force buy that offset Liquid’s pistol win. The decider on Nuke saw Liquid win both pistols but fail to convert map control; The MongolZ held on to take the series. Usukhbayar ‘910’ Banzragch led The MongolZ across the matchup with a 52-38 K-D and a 1.23 rating. Ayush ‘mzinho’ Batbold and Anarbileg ‘cobrazera’ Uuganbayar each posted 1.16 ratings. For Liquid, ultimate finished 55-37 with a 1.33 rating and Jonathan ‘EliGE’ Jablonowski recorded a 47-47 line with a 1.11 rating.
M80 and Liquid are out of the Shanghai event. On Friday, MOUZ will face the winner of the TYLOO versus paiN match in the lower-bracket final, and The MongolZ will play the winner of PARIVISIOn against Lynn Vision. The winners of those lower-bracket finals will advance to the playoffs later in the tournament.
