MIBR oust NRG 2-0 at StarLadder StarSeries Fall

MIBR eliminated NRG 2-0 at the StarLadder StarSeries Fall in Barcelona on Saturday, taking Cache 13-7 and Inferno 13-2. The loss eliminates NRG from the event and advances MIBR in the lower bracket.

The series opened on NRG’s map pick, Cache. NRG led 7-5 on the Terrorist side despite dropping the pistol round. MIBR then won eight consecutive rounds in the CT half to flip the map and close it 13-7.

On Inferno NRG recorded its first CT-sided round at 1-9. The North American side was unable to recover on the offense and lost the map 2-13.

Linus “LNZ” Holtäng led MIBR across the two maps with a 1.70 rating. Tomas “tomaszin” Corna finished with 31 kills and a 1.45 rating, and Felipe “insani” Yuji had 33 kills and a 1.43 rating. Lucas “nqz” Soares and Carlos “venomzera” Eduardo provided support with positive differentials on the scoreboard.

NRG’s core players recorded negative differentials for the series. Nick “nitr0” Cannella ended with 13 kills, 26 deaths and a 0.67 rating. Michael “Grim” Wince and Håkon “hallzerk” Fjærli also recorded more deaths than kills over the two maps.

NRG began the tournament with an upset win over MOUZ. A victory over MIBR would have added 70 VRS points and moved NRG up about eight places in the rankings; NRG leave Barcelona with 130 VRS points from the event.

MIBR will face the winner of FURIA versus MOUZ later on Saturday in the lower bracket.
