MIBR captain LNZ points to inexperience after 2-1 loss

MIBR captain Linus “LNZ” Holtäng said the team lacks experience in high-pressure matches after a 2-1 semi-final loss to Legacy at FISSURE Playground on Sept. 12, 2026.

Linus “LNZ” Holtäng, captain of MIBR, said the team lacks experience in high-pressure matches after the squad fell 2-1 to Legacy in the semi-final at FISSURE Playground on Sept. 12, 2026. The series ended when Legacy overturned a 2v5 in overtime on Inferno.

The best-of-three featured swings in momentum. MIBR built leads at points but failed to close key rounds. On Inferno the match reached overtime and finished after an extended back-and-forth that ended with Legacy converting the 2v5. On Nuke MIBR won the opening-kill statistic 14-9 but did not convert enough of those advantages into rounds.

LNZ attributed the result to a mix of inexperience in big matches and an off day for several players. “I think we are still lacking some experience in big games like this,” he said after the match. “This was the first semi-final we’ve played with this lineup, and maybe none of us had the kind of individual day we usually have. They were hitting harder shots and making fewer mistakes than us at the end of the day.”

The captain also addressed MIBR’s aim for a balanced five-man effort. He pointed to recent roster changes — tomaszin joined recently and nqz has had limited time with the roster — as factors in the team’s on-site cohesion and decision making under pressure. “I think with tomaszin still new to the team, and because we haven’t played that much with nqz, it’s still difficult to play these situations perfectly. But I think we’re getting there. We just need to go through some trial and error, and we’ll learn from it before the next event,” he added.

MIBR played Alliance the day before the semi-final, while Legacy advanced directly to the semis and had an extra day without a match. LNZ rejected the idea that the short turnaround was the main issue, saying the limited time the new lineup has spent together mattered more than match scheduling.

The semi-final was the seventh meeting between MIBR and Legacy this year amid MIBR roster changes. LNZ described Legacy as unpredictable and difficult to read, with strong individual displays that can change rounds quickly. “I think they’re a bit of a joker in a way. They can pull out any round at any time, they’re always really tough to play against, and they have really strong individuals,” he said, adding that MIBR felt closer than ever to beating them but failed to convert critical situations.

MIBR will return to practice with the new lineup and focus on converting early advantages into finished rounds and improving five-player coordination ahead of their next tournament.
