M80’s s1n proud after NAVI upset, OT loss to FURIA

Elias ‘s1n’ Stein said he was proud of M80’s performance at BLAST Open Porto after the team beat Natus Vincere and pushed FURIA to overtime on Cache before losing the series 0-2. The result moved M80 to the lower bracket, where they will face Aurora next.

On Cache, M80’s map pick, Stein called the match ‘such a fun game’ and noted it was the squad’s first official match on the map. He described a strong T side and a good start on CT, but said the team lost key rounds late in regulation. “I think it was 5-3, after we had 12 already or 11, something like this, and after that we kind of fell apart in a sense. We definitely should have closed this game,” he recalled.

Stein said the team will review voice comms and decisions from the final rounds to find where momentum shifted. He emphasised the need to address mental and tactical errors that emerged late in the first map.

On the second map, Dust2, Stein described a familiar pattern against FURIA. He pointed to the opponent’s aggressive plays and singled out Jacob ‘YEKINDAR’ Petersen as a decisive factor: “We couldn’t handle it today.”

The victory over Natus Vincere was highlighted as a major result. Stein called the NAVI win ‘huge’ and said the team had not won a meaningful match in a long time. He added that the victory boosted confidence across the roster and showed the squad can compete with higher-level opposition. He also warned that tier-one opponents will find ways to win if individual players do not step up.

Stein credited recent preparation for M80’s improved showing. The team completed a focused bootcamp and added coaching support, with Munstur joining dephh on staff to assist the roster during event preparation.

Looking ahead, M80 will meet Aurora in the lower bracket. Stein recalled two 13-9 losses to Aurora at the Esports World Cup in Paris and said the team is motivated to reverse those results. “With some pistols under our belt and new-won confidence, I think we can be chin up into this game and just go very proud into this game and beat them,” he said.

M80’s immediate priorities are match preparation and reviewing in-game communications to prevent late-game collapses and improve decision-making in future elimination matches.
