Luminosity clinch Logitech G Play Connect playoff spot

Luminosity secured a playoff place at Logitech G Play Connect after a 3-2 Bo1 group finish, clinching qualification with a 13-11 win over Ninjas in Pyjamas on Ancient.

Luminosity secured a place in the Logitech G Play Connect playoffs after finishing the best-of-one group stage 3-2, clinching qualification with a 13-11 win over Ninjas in Pyjamas on Ancient.

Luminosity opened the day with a 13-7 loss to GamerLegion on Nuke, then beat Metizport 13-9 on Mirage. They lost a close match 11-13 to group leaders B8 on Dust2, then defeated M80 13-4 on Ancient before closing the group with the 13-11 win over NIP on Ancient.

The 13-11 result decided the final standings. Without that victory there would have been a three-way tie for the last qualifying spot between Luminosity, NIP and GamerLegion; tie-break rules would have favoured NIP. Team Liquid and Ninjas in Pyjamas were eliminated as the event moves into the knockout stage in Poland.

Aleks ‘Rainwaker’ Petrov posted a 1.22 rating across the five maps and Aurélien ‘afro’ Drapier recorded a 1.19 rating. Rainwaker joined Luminosity after a spell with Liquid. Luminosity’s lineup for the group stage was Oscar ‘AZUWU’ Bell, Rainwaker, Simon ‘yxngstxr’ Boije, afro and Lucas ‘lux’ Meneghini. Ninjas in Pyjamas fielded Adam ‘adamb’ Ångström, Martin ‘stavn’ Lund, Kacper ‘xKacpersky’ Gabara, Karim ‘Krimbo’ Moussa and Rasmus ‘sjuush’ Beck.

Luminosity switched to Counter-Strike 2 earlier in the year and posted mixed results since. They entered Logitech G Play Connect after finishing second at Roman Imperium Cup VIII. Luminosity will return to action in the playoffs on 19 September in Poland.
