LOS sweeps Team Secret Whales to stay alive at Worlds
LOS swept Team Secret Whales 2-0 on Oct. 26 in Swiss Stage Round 3, eliminating the Vietnamese team and advancing to Round 4 with a 1-2 record.
LOS swept Team Secret Whales 2-0 on Monday, Oct. 26, in Swiss Stage Round 3 of the 2026 League of Legends World Championship. The win eliminated Team Secret Whales and kept the Brazilian representative in the tournament.
LOS entered the series after losing to T1 and G2 Esports in the first two Swiss Stage rounds. The team needed a win to avoid elimination. Team Secret Whales, the top seed from the League of Legends Championship Pacific, finished the stage at 0-3 without a series win.
The first game lasted slightly more than 40 minutes. Team Secret Whales took an early lead, but LOS recovered after winning a fight near Baron. LOS then ended the game with 14 kills, compared with nine for Team Secret Whales.
LOS built a lead of more than 5,000 gold in the second game. Kim “Zest” Dong-min played Kennen, while Raí “Curse” Yamada played Trundle. Team Secret Whales took a Baron and briefly reduced the deficit, but LOS won the next fights and finished the game with a 22-13 kill advantage.
The series also set a record for Duduhh. At 18, the LOS player became the youngest Brazilian to win a series at Worlds. The achievement came in his first season competing at the Tier 1 level.
LOS will face another team with a 1-2 record in Swiss Stage Round 4. The opponent will be determined after the remaining Round 3 matches. Possible opponents include Hanwha Life Esports, CTBC Flying Oyster, Karmine Corp and the winner of Team Liquid versus Anyone’s Legend. G2 Esports cannot face LOS because rematches are not allowed in the Swiss Stage.
Round 4 begins on Oct. 28 and will be another elimination best-of-three series. A win would give LOS a 2-2 record and one final chance to qualify for the playoffs. A loss would end the team’s Worlds 2026 campaign.
