K/DA Teases Oct. 20 Return After Six-Year Hiatus
Riot Games has teased K/DA’s return for Oct. 20, nearly six years after the virtual pop group last released new music.
Riot Games has teased K/DA’s return for Oct. 20, nearly six years after the virtual pop group last released new music. The announcement has left the song’s title, performers and related content unconfirmed.
The teaser prominently features the phrase “Start a Fire.” Riot has not confirmed whether it is the title of the upcoming track or part of the promotional campaign. An unreleased song titled “WATCH ME,” attributed to K/DA, appeared in the ASCAP music rights database in August. The registration lists Felicia “Feli” Ferraro, Nija Charles, Ali Tamposi, Federico Vindver and Sébastien Najand as songwriters. All five have credits on international music projects, including work connected to Riot Games.
Riot has not confirmed whether “WATCH ME” and “Start a Fire” refer to the same song or whether “WATCH ME” will be released on Oct. 20.
The lineup for the new release is also unclear. K/DA’s original performers were (G)I-DLE members Miyeon and Soyeon, Madison Beer and Jaira Burns. They provided the voices for Ahri, Akali, Evelynn and Kai’Sa, respectively. Rumors have suggested that Madison Beer may not participate in the new project, though Riot has not confirmed any changes.
Soyeon recently returned as Akali for True Damage’s “Know My Name,” the official Worlds 2026 anthem. True Damage is scheduled to perform during the World Championship Grand Final Opening Ceremony.
K/DA debuted in November 2018 with “POP/STARS” during the Worlds 2018 Grand Final Opening Ceremony. The song reached No. 1 on the World Digital Song Sales chart, surpassed 100 million YouTube views in about one month and later received Gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America. Its official video has more than 668 million views.
Riot released K/DA’s “ALL OUT” EP on Nov. 6, 2020. The five-track project included “THE BADDEST,” “MORE,” “VILLAIN,” “DRUM GO DUM” and “I’LL SHOW YOU,” with guest appearances from TWICE, Lexie Liu, Bea Miller and Wolftyla. K/DA has released no new original music since the EP.
The teaser follows several League of Legends virtual music comebacks in 2026. HEARTSTEEL returned in September with “Live My Life” and a new skin collection, nearly three years after “PARANOIA.” True Damage returned with “Know My Name.” Riot also released an orchestral version of the Worlds 2026 theme featuring Pentakill on Oct. 12.
Riot has not provided further details about K/DA’s Oct. 20 release, its performers or any related event.
