Gratisfaction to stand in for FlyQuest at DFRAG HyperX Nationals

Sean “Gratisfaction” Kaiwai will stand in for FlyQuest at the DFRAG HyperX Nationals in Brisbane from July 17–19 after João “story” Vieira was benched.

FlyQuest confirmed on Tuesday that Sean “Gratisfaction” Kaiwai will join the roster as a stand-in for the DFRAG HyperX Nationals in Brisbane, running July 17–19. The announcement covers the eight-team event ahead of its GSL-style group stage.

The tournament carries about $7,000 in prize money and includes top Oceania sides such as THUNDER dOWNUNDER, Rooster and Ground Zero. FlyQuest are seeded at the top of Group B and will open their campaign against DXA on July 17. Group-stage matches run across the first two days before the knockout phase.

FlyQuest has been short a player since benching João “story” Vieira during the off-season. Shortly after he was benched, story rejoined SAW, restoring the core that reached the semi-finals at IEM Cologne 2024.

Gratisfaction, 30, has been a free agent since leaving Alter Ego in June. He previously played with FlyQuest’s Justin “jks” Savage on Renegades and 100 Thieves, creating a familiar pairing the team can rely on for a short tournament window.

FlyQuest has not announced a permanent replacement and will use Gratisfaction as a temporary option for the Nationals. His match against DXA will be his first appearance in FlyQuest colours at the Brisbane event.

The DFRAG HyperX Nationals begins with group-stage play and moves to knockout rounds. FlyQuest’s placement in Group B could lead to matches against several regional teams if they advance past the opening stage.
