G2 Esports reportedly adds HYUNMIN for 2027 VALORANT season

G2 Esports has reportedly reached a verbal agreement with DRX duelist HYUNMIN for its 2027 VALORANT roster. The signing remains unconfirmed.

G2 Esports has reportedly reached a verbal agreement with DRX duelist Song “HYUNMIN” Hyun-min for its 2027 VALORANT Champions Tour roster. The agreement was reportedly reached on Nov. 1, but G2 has not announced the signing.

The 20-year-old South Korean player would replace Alexander “jawgemo” Mor. Jawgemo has been linked with a transfer to Team Vitality, although that move has not been confirmed by either organization.

HYUNMIN is the latest player linked to G2’s reported roster changes for the 2027 season. Eduardo “Sato” Nagahama and Francisco “kiNgg” Aravena, both of Leviatán, have also reportedly agreed to join G2.

G2 confirmed the departure of in-game leader Jacob “valyn” Batio on Oct. 27. He left after three years with the organization. Andrej “babybay” Francisty is also expected to leave, although G2 has not announced its complete 2027 lineup.

Nathan “leaf” Orf and Trent “trent” Cairns are under contract through 2028. Head coach Josh “JoshRT” Lee has the same contract term. If the reported agreements are completed, G2’s starting five would consist of HYUNMIN, Sato, kiNgg, leaf and trent. KiNgg is expected to become the team’s in-game leader, while HYUNMIN’s and Sato’s agent roles have not been confirmed.

HYUNMIN joined DRX in October 2024 after playing for Japan’s CREST GAMING Zst. He helped DRX win Pacific Kickoff 2025 before the team finished third at VALORANT Champions Paris later that year. His most-played agents include Jett and Raze, along with other duelists.

DRX did not qualify for any of the three global events in the 2026 season. On Oct. 22, the organization announced its separation from HYUNMIN, MaKo, BeYN, free1ng and two coaches after DRX missed out on a VCT Pacific partnership for 2027.

G2 was selected as one of eight partner organizations for VCT Americas in 2027 and 2028. If completed, HYUNMIN’s transfer would take him from the Pacific league to the Americas after two seasons in Korea’s top-level competition.

G2 won the Americas Stage 1 title in 2026 and finished fourth at Masters Santiago. The team reached the top four at VALORANT Champions Shanghai before losing 2-1 to 100 Thieves in the lower bracket on Oct. 16. G2 has not won an international VALORANT championship.
