G2 benches SunPayus after IEM Cologne exit
G2 has benched AWPer Álvaro “SunPayus” García following their quarter-final loss to Spirit at the IEM Cologne Major. Klimentii “kl1m” Krivosheev will not be promoted to the main roster.
G2 has moved AWPer Álvaro “SunPayus” García to the bench after the team’s quarter-final defeat to Spirit at the IEM Cologne Major, ending the Spaniard’s roughly one-year spell with the organization. The change was announced after G2 exited the Major in the last eight.
SunPayus joined G2 in July 2025. During his time on the roster he recorded a 1.05 rating and was part of the lineup that won the BLAST Open London 2025 Finals.
The benching leaves G2’s dedicated AWPer slot vacant. Internal sources indicate the club does not plan to promote Klimentii “kl1m” Krivosheev from the secondary roster to fill that role. Those same sources say kl1m is available to receive offers.
G2’s active roster now lists Nemanja “huNter-” Kovač, Matúš “MATYS” Šimko, Nikita “HeavyGod” Martynenko and Guy “NertZ” Iluz, with Eetu “sAw” Saha serving as coach and Álvaro “SunPayus” García on the bench. Klimentii “kl1m” Krivosheev remains with the club’s secondary squad.
The organization has begun reassessing personnel after the Major exit and will address the AWPer vacancy ahead of upcoming events.
