G2 beat Monte 2-0 at PGL Astana; NertZ posts 2.06 rating

G2 defeated Monte 2-0 in the PGL Astana group decider, winning Ancient 13-2 and Dust2 to secure a playoff spot as Guy ‘NertZ’ Iluz posted a 2.06 match rating.

G2 defeated Monte 2-0 in the PGL Astana group-stage decider to secure a spot in the tournament playoffs. The team won Ancient 13-2 and Dust2 to become the second-to-last team to qualify for the event’s knockout stage.

On Ancient, G2 controlled the match on the Terrorist side. Guy ‘NertZ’ Iluz won a 1v3 pistol round in round one that helped set the early tone, and G2 closed the map 13-2. On Dust2, Monte took the first three rounds, but G2’s CT unit gained control after early opening plays from Álvaro ‘SunPayus’ García. G2 regained momentum on the T side and finished the match.

NertZ ended the series 33-11 with a 109.2 average damage per round (ADR), 93.8% KAST and a 2.06 match rating, his highest since joining G2. Nikita ‘HeavyGod’ Martynenko posted a 33-14 line with a 102.3 ADR and a 1.56 rating. Nemanja ‘huNter-‘ Kovač was 26-9 with an 82.1 ADR and a 1.53 rating. Matúš ‘MATYS’ Šimko went 22-17 with a 75.3 ADR and a 1.13 rating. SunPayus finished 16-11 with a 58.2 ADR and a 1.20 rating.

Monte struggled to respond. Aurélien ‘afro’ Drapier led the team at 18-23 with a 62.3 ADR and a 0.80 rating. Aleks ‘Rainwaker’ Petrov finished 17-27 with a 58.8 ADR and a 0.75 rating. Aurimas ‘Bymas’ Pipiras was 11-25 with a 47.9 ADR and a 0.52 rating. Jack ‘Gizmy’ von Spreckelsen went 11-29 with a 60.2 ADR and a 0.48 rating. Oscar ‘AZUWU’ Bell recorded 5-27 with a 32.8 ADR and a 0.35 rating.

Monte entered PGL Astana after recent wins over magic and The Huns but did not win a map against FURIA, Falcons or G2 in the group stage. Monte is eliminated from playoff contention while G2 advances to the PGL Astana playoffs.
