FURIA beat MOUZ to reach PGL Masters Bucharest final

FURIA beat MOUZ 2-1 in Friday’s PGL Masters Bucharest semifinal and will face Nemiga in Saturday’s final.

FURIA beat MOUZ in a three-map semifinal at PGL Masters Bucharest on Friday to reach their second consecutive tournament final. The Brazilian team will face Nemiga on Oct. 31.

FURIA took an early lead on Dust2, but MOUZ moved ahead after building its economy. Mareks “YEKINDAR” Gaļinskis questioned his team’s communication, after which FURIA regained control behind Danil “molodoy” Golubenko and Yuri “yuurih” Santos.

Molodoy then recorded three USP-S kills in the second-half pistol round. FURIA used the round to start a 7-0 run and close the map.

FURIA also opened strongly on Mirage. Kaike “KSCERATO” Cerato claimed four kills in the pistol round and helped his team build an 8-4 lead. He finished the first half with 18 kills, while Oldřich “PR” Nový led MOUZ with 14.

MOUZ responded with a seven-round run on defense after the side switch. YEKINDAR and KSCERATO combined for all five FURIA kills in the round that ended the streak, but MOUZ soon won the map and forced the decider.

FURIA led 8-4 on Cache after preventing MOUZ from winning consecutive rounds. Both teams lost anti-eco rounds after the side switch, but FURIA won the next two rounds to complete the series. Molodoy posted the highest rating in the match, while KSCERATO also finished among FURIA’s top performers.

“I’m very happy,” molodoy said in a post-match interview. “It’s always hard to play against MOUZ. They have good structure and know how to play the game.”

Nemiga defeated Vitality in the other semifinal on Friday to reach its first Big Event final. The match will put molodoy against Nemiga players Ivan “syph0” Kachava and Aleksandr “khaN” Zhuravlev, whom he described as friends.

“I will play against my friends, syph0 and khaN,” molodoy said. “I think they want to beat me. It’s hard to play against them because they will be confident playing against me. We will see. Good luck to them.”

The final will be FURIA’s second in a row. The team won the Thunderpick World Championship in Malta less than two weeks before the Bucharest semifinal.
