Forza Horizon 6: Fix ‘Invalid Gaming Services Detected’ on PC

Many PC players are unable to start Forza Horizon 6 after encountering an “Invalid Gaming Services Detected” error at launch. The problem surfaced during the game’s Advanced Access period and prevents the title from loading past the startup screen for affected users.

The error appears immediately when players try to open the game, stopping progression before menus or gameplay appear. The cause is typically an outdated or missing Gaming Services app on Windows. Gaming Services is a Microsoft Store component required for authentication, digital rights management and other backend functions for Store-distributed games.

To update Gaming Services, open the Microsoft Store on Windows and go to the Downloads page. Use the Check for updates option. If Gaming Services appears in the list, select Update next to it; if no Update button appears, the app is already current. If Gaming Services does not appear in the Downloads list, search for it in the Microsoft Store and install it manually.

After updating or installing Gaming Services, restart the PC and launch Forza Horizon 6 again. If the error persists, remove and reinstall Gaming Services from the Microsoft Store and reboot the system. Reinstalling the app and restarting Windows has resolved the startup error for players who could not load the game.

Because Gaming Services handles key backend tasks for Microsoft Store titles, an outdated or missing installation can block a game at startup. Updating or reinstalling Gaming Services through the Microsoft Store remains the recommended remedy for the error.
